HSS Electric Hydraulic Cargo Lift with Chain Guide Rail

Product Overview

The HSS electric hydraulic freight lift (chain-guided lifting platform) is a non-scissor hydraulic vertical transport system with a load capacity ranging from 0.3 to 30 tons and a lifting height of 3 to 20 meters. Designed with hydraulic drive, chain transmission, and rail-guided operation, it offers exceptional load capacity, smooth lifting, and flexible installation, making it ideal for vertical goods transport in industrial plants, warehouses, and logistics centers.

The HSS series freight lift uses a motor-driven oil pump to generate hydraulic power, with hydraulic cylinders driving heavy-duty chains to move the platform (or cabin) smoothly along guide rails. Thanks to the inherent overload protection and self-locking features of the hydraulic system, the HSS lift delivers reliable, low-failure operation and is an ideal replacement for traditional simple freight lifts and shaft-type lifts.

Product Features

  • Hydraulic drive, high load capacity: Powered by hydraulic cylinders with a rated load capacity of up to 30 tons, far exceeding scissor lift platforms of comparable size — ideal for heavy-duty vertical transport.
  • Chain + rail transmission: Hydraulic cylinders work with heavy-duty chains to drive the platform, with fewer moving parts, low friction loss, high transmission efficiency, and extended service life.
  • Rail-guided, smooth operation: High-strength I-beam/channel steel guide rails with guide rollers at all four corners of the platform ensure wobble-free, drift-free lifting for secure goods transport.
  • No shaft required, easy installation: The HSS rail-guided lift needs no dedicated shaft — only guide columns mounted between floors. Short installation time and a small footprint make it especially suitable for retrofit projects.
  • Multi-point control, flexible operation: Control buttons can be installed on every floor and on the platform work surface for multi-point operation, with interlocked floor doors for safe, convenient use.
  • PLC intelligent control: A programmable logic controller (PLC) enables smart floor selection, automatic leveling, fault diagnosis, and display, with simplified wiring and low failure rates.
  • Comprehensive safety protection: Standard equipment includes an anti-fall safety device (fracture protection), limit switches (upper/lower travel limits), overload protection, and interlocked floor doors, all compliant with GB 28755.

Working Principle

The HSS electric hydraulic freight lift operates in two phases: lifting and lowering.

Lifting phase: The motor starts and drives the hydraulic oil pump, sending hydraulic oil through a check valve into the cylinder, which extends the piston rod. The piston rod amplifies travel through a sprocket (movable pulley principle), driving the heavy-duty chain to pull the platform smoothly upward along the guide rails. System pressure is controlled by a relief valve — when the platform reaches the target floor or encounters an obstruction, the system automatically relieves pressure and holds, preventing overload and over-travel.

Lowering phase: The solenoid directional valve switches to the oil return circuit, and hydraulic oil flows slowly back to the tank through a throttle valve (speed control valve) under the load's own weight, lowering the platform at a steady speed. The lowering speed can be precisely adjusted via the speed control valve (3–6 m/min), ensuring smooth, controlled landing. The hydraulic system is equipped with a hose rupture valve that automatically locks in the event of a hydraulic hose failure, preventing the platform from falling.

Compared to scissor lift platforms, the HSS lift offers a longer lifting stroke (up to 20 m), requires no pit, has fewer moving parts, and is easier to maintain. Compared to traditional elevators, it offers lower cost, shorter installation time, and does not fall under special equipment supervision (within 30 tons and 20 meters).

Structural Components

Drive system: Includes the motor (380V/3–22kW), high-pressure gear oil pump, solenoid directional valve, relief valve, speed control valve, and hydraulic pipeline. The drive system is mounted on top of the platform or inside the floor-level control cabinet, with motor-pump sets configured by load capacity.

Hydraulic cylinder: The HSS uses a multi-stage telescopic hydraulic cylinder (or a single-stage cylinder with a chain speed-multiplying mechanism). The cylinder body is made of 27SiMn seamless steel pipe, the piston rod is chrome-plated, and seals are imported polyurethane with a service life of ≥5 years.

Chain transmission mechanism: Uses double-row heavy-duty plate chains with a safety factor of ≥8. Sprockets are made of 40Cr quenched and tempered steel, and a chain tensioning device automatically compensates for chain slack.

Guide rail system: H-Beam or C-channel steel guide rails with a section spacing of 1–1.5 m, secured to floor beams or foundations with expansion bolts. Rail joints use dowel pin + bolted connections to maintain perpendicularity of ≤1/1000.

Platform/cabin: Fabricated from Q235B steel plate, bent and welded, with a non-slip patterned steel floor (3–5mm) and three-sided guardrails (height ≥1.2 m), with one or two sides available for opening. Platform dimensions are customized to site requirements, with standard widths of 1.5–5 m and depths of 1.5–4.5 m.

Electrical control system: PLC controller (optional Mitsubishi/Siemens/Delta Electronics) with touch screen (HMI) display, supporting floor calling, automatic leveling, fault diagnosis, and operation logging. Electrical components are from Schneider/CHINT, and the control cabinet has an IP54 protection rating.

Applications

HSS series electric hydraulic freight lifts are widely used in the following scenarios:

Inter-floor goods transport in factory buildings: HSS freight lifts can be installed directly inside or outside factory buildings, connecting 1-6 floors for vertical goods transfer, replacing manual handling and simple hoisting, improving efficiency by 3-4 times. After a machinery manufacturer adopted the HSS5 freight lift, cross-floor material turnaround time was reduced from 45 minutes to 12 minutes.

Warehouses and logistics centers: Used for vertical goods movement between levels in multi-story warehouses, connecting loading docks with warehouse floors, and enabling efficient inbound/outbound operations in conjunction with forklifts and pallet trucks.

Retrofit projects for existing factory buildings: No pit or dedicated shaftway required, flexible installation conditions, making it particularly suitable for adding vertical transport equipment to existing plants. After a textile factory installed an HSS10 freight lift on the exterior of its existing building, transport capacity increased to 2.5 times the original level.

Multi-story parking garage integration: Used for vertical transfer of vehicles/goods in multi-story parking facilities, working with parking platforms to enable fully automatic vehicle storage and retrieval.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between the HSS electric hydraulic freight lift and a scissor lift platform?

A: The main difference lies in the structural configuration: the HSS freight lift uses guide rails plus chain-guided lifting, achieving travel heights up to 20 meters without requiring a pit; the scissor lift platform uses an X-shaped scissor mechanism for lifting, typically limited to heights under 8 meters and requiring pit installation. The HSS freight lift is better suited for vertical transport between floors of multi-story buildings, while the scissor lift is more appropriate for level lifting within limited heights.

Q: Does the HSS hydraulic freight lift require special equipment registration?

A: According to the Special Equipment Catalog and TSG regulations, hydraulic freight lifts with a rated load capacity of ≤0.5 tons are not classified as special equipment; hydraulic freight lifts with a rated load capacity of >0.5 tons fall under lifting work platforms and are managed as lifting appliances in some regions. Our company can provide the Type Test Certificate of Conformity and relevant technical documentation to assist users with the registration process. Please refer to the specific requirements of your local market supervision authority.

Q: What foundation conditions are required for installing an HSS freight lift?

A: The following conditions are required: ① Ground bearing capacity ≥5t/m² (for load capacity ≤5t) or ≥8t/m² (for load capacity >5t); ② Sufficient installation space between floors (the single-side guide rail of the HSS freight lift occupies approximately 250-400mm in width); ③ A three-phase 380V power supply must be provided to the control cabinet location (within 20 meters); ④ A cargo access opening must beReserved at each floor interface (opening dimensions ≥ platform dimensions + 200mm), and a landing door is required on each floor. No pit or dedicated machine room is needed.

Q: What is the maintenance interval for the HSS hydraulic freight lift?

A: Recommended maintenance schedule: Daily — check guide rail cleanliness, limit switch operation, and landing door interlock function. Monthly — check hydraulic oil level and quality, chain tension, and guide roller wear. Quarterly — replace the hydraulic oil filter element, inspect hose fitting seals, and tighten guide rail bolts. Annually — replace the hydraulic oil (ISO VG 46 anti-wear hydraulic oil), inspect cylinder seals, and apply grease to the guide rails. Maintenance complies with GB 28755-2012 and JB/T 9229.1-2013 standards.

Q: Can remote control operation and automation features be added to the HSS freight lift?

A: Yes. The HSS freight lift comes standard with a PLC Control System and can be expanded with wireless remote control (within 100 meters), IC card floor management, QR code automatic calling, and integration with MES/ERP systems for automation. For customers with smart factory requirements, floor sensors and communication modules can be added to enable one-touch lift calling, automatic leveling, and remote monitoring of operational data.
