BMD Type Explosion-Proof Electric Hoist
Product Introduction
The BMD Type Explosion-Proof Electric Hoist (also known as BMD Type Two-Speed Explosion-Proof Electric Hoist, or BMD1 Type Explosion-Proof Electric Hoist) manufactured by Kelude Heavy Industry is a wire-rope flameproof lifting device specifically designed for explosive hazardous atmospheres. It is suitable for locations where prescribed flammable gases or vapors mixed with air form explosive mixtures, with explosion protection class ExdⅡBT4 and temperature class T1~T4. The core difference from a standard electric hoist lies in its externally exposed explosion-proof components, which are made of special non-sparking materials, and its electrical parts, which adopt a flameproof design to fundamentally eliminate ignition sources.
The BMD Type Explosion-Proof Electric Hoist is designed and manufactured in strict accordance with GB 3836.1-2000 "Electrical Apparatus for Explosive Gas Atmospheres – Part 1: General Requirements" and GB 3836.2-2000 "Electrical Apparatus for Explosive Gas Atmospheres – Part 2: Flameproof Enclosures 'd'", and has passed the inspection of the Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Explosion-Proof Electrical Products of the Ministry of Machinery Industry, holding an Explosion Proof Certificate. Kelude Heavy Industry possesses mature production processes and complete factory inspection procedures in the field of explosion-proof hoists, ensuring the safety and reliability of every unit.
Product Features
Flameproof Design: All electrical components are housed in Exd flameproof enclosures, with flameproof joint gaps ≤0.2mm (per GB 3836.2), fundamentally preventing internal arcs from igniting external flammable gases. The explosion-proof marking is ExdⅡBT4, suitable for Group ⅡA and ⅡB, Temperature Class T1~T4 explosive gas atmospheres.
Two-Speed Operation: The Hoisting mechanism supports two-speed control (fast speed 8m/min, slow speed 0.8m/min). The slow speed setting is used for precise positioning and fine adjustment of the load, significantly enhancing operational safety and precision. The travel mechanism can also be optionally equipped with two-speed or Variable Frequency Speed Control.
Non-Sparking Materials: Externally exposed components such as the hook, drum, and Wire Rope are manufactured from non-sparking materials like copper alloy or Stainless Steel, preventing sparks upon contact with steel loads and physically eliminating potential ignition sources.
Multiple Safety Protections: Equipped with safety devices including an upper Limit Switch, lower Limit Switch, Overload Limiter, phase failure protection (Phase failure protection device), and Undervoltage Protection. The Conical-Rotor Brake Motor features inherent mechanical braking, automatically applying the Brake application upon power failure to ensure the load remains safely suspended during sudden power outages.
Compact Structure: Utilizes a modular design where the Hoisting mechanism, travel mechanism, and electrical control cabinet are independently detachable for easy maintenance and replacement. During production, Kelude Heavy Industry conducts individual explosion-proof performance tests on each hoist, including flameproof joint gap measurement and dielectric test (dielectric test).

Working Principle
The BMD Type Explosion-Proof Electric Hoist is driven by a cone rotor motor, transmitting power through a three-stage helical gear Reducer / Gearbox to the drum. The drum rotates to wind the Wire Rope, enabling the hook to Hoisting / Lifting or Lowering. The flameproof motor's rotor incorporates a conical brake ring. When energized, magnetic force overcomes the Spring force, causing axial movement of the rotor and disengaging the brake ring; when de-energized, the Spring pushes the rotor back, pressing the brake ring against the stator's internal cone to achieve rapid Braking. This principle provides the explosion-proof hoist with an additional layer of safety compared to standard hoists.
Product Structure

The BMD Type Explosion-Proof Hoist consists of the following core components:
Hoisting Reducer / Gearbox: Three-stage helical gear transmission, gears made of 20CrMnTi with Carburizing and Quenching, Tooth surface hardness HRC58-62, transmission efficiency ≥92%. The housing is a flameproof structure with flameproof joint width ≥12mm.
Flameproof Motor: BMD-specific Conical-Rotor three-phase asynchronous motor, Protection Rating (IP) IP54, Insulation Class F. Both the stator winding and Junction box feature flameproof construction, and the cable entry uses a double explosion-proof design with a sealing rubber ring and metal compression nut.
Drum Device: Cast or welded drum, configured with 6×37+IWR Wire Rope, Safety factor ≥6. The drum is equipped with a wire rope pressure plate and rope groove guard (Anti-derailment device for rope groove).
Hook Device: The explosion-proof hook is manufactured from copper alloy or Stainless Steel, preventing sparks upon contact with steel loads, and features a safety latch to prevent rope dislodgement (Load detachment safety latch)t.
Flameproof Electrical Control Cabinet: Exd flameproof enclosure housing Contactors, Thermal Overload Relay, and Transformer (380V/36V safety control voltage). The connecting cable between the cabinet and the hoist body is protected by an explosion-proof flexible conduit.
Travel Mechanism: Electric trolley type (D Type) that travels along an I-Beam Rail, with a manual trolley also available as an option. The Travel Motor is flameproof, and the tread surface of the travel wheel is hardened through Quenching.

Selection Guide
The following factors should be carefully considered when selecting a BMD Type explosion-proof electric hoist:
Explosion Protection Class Matching: Select the corresponding explosion-proof marking based on the classification of the explosive gas mixture (IIA/IIB/IIC) and temperature class (T1 to T4) at the site. The standard BMD Type is ExdIIBT4, suitable for the vast majority of chemical and petrochemical applications. For higher ratings such as ExdIICT4, the BMD1 series can be selected.
Configuration Selection: The D Type (electric trolley type) can be suspended on an I-beam rail for straight or curved travel, making it suitable for use with explosion-proof bridge cranes or explosion-proof single-girder cranes. The A Type (fixed type) has no travel mechanism and is mounted via base feet for stationary lifting applications. The AB Type (base-mounted (Platform mounting)) is fixed to a support structure through mounting plate holes.
