Crane Installation & Acceptance Checklist: Rail, Load Test
Core Value
A newly installed crane is not ready for service until it passes a systematic acceptance inspection. This checklist is fully aligned with GB 50278-2010 and breaks the process down into five key stages: crane rail & foundation, metal structure, mechanisms & assembly, electrical system, and load test. It covers 39 itemized acceptance criteria, each referenced to its corresponding GB clause and equipped with a self-check box. Take it to the site and verify every item one by one—no omissions, no disputes.

| camber | ≥0.9S/1000 | Full Load Deflection Exceeding Limit, Trolley Drift |
| Static load test | 1.25Times Hover≥10min No Permanent Deformation | Structure Strength Insufficient, safety risk |
| Dynamic Load Test | 1.1Times Repeated Lifting Braking≥1h | Braking/drive system Reliability in Question |
| Insulation Resistance | Power Circuit≥0.5MΩ | Electric Leakage Risk, Tripping |
| Protection Grounding | Grounding Resistance≤4Ω | Lightning Strike/No Leakage Protection |
FAQ: Gantry Crane Installation & Inspection
Q: Is installation acceptance the same as the supervision inspection by the special equipment inspection body?
A: No. Installation acceptance is the handover procedure between the installation contractor and the user unit, while the supervision inspection (first inspection) by the special equipment inspection body is a statutory requirement. We recommend completing the self-inspection checklist first, then requesting the supervision inspection. This way, any issues are identified and corrected early, avoiding a failed inspection.
Q: Where does the 1.25× static load test factor come from, and how long should the load be held?
A: The 1.25× factor is the value specified in the national standard (Rated Lifting Capacity × 125%). Lift the load 100–200 mm off the ground and hold for at least 10 minutes. Measure the main girder deflection at mid-span (≤ S/800). After unloading, check for permanent deformation and cracks. The static load test must be passed before the dynamic load test — the sequence cannot be reversed.
Q: What are the most common issues found during crane rail acceptance?
A: Top 3 issues — ① Joint height difference exceeding 1 mm (causing rail gnawing and abnormal noise); ② Loose rail clips (rail shifting after prolonged operation); ③ Span out of tolerance (excessive stress on gantry crane outriggers). These three are the easiest to overlook during installation. Always verify with a spirit level and measuring tape during acceptance.
Q: What should be done if the installation fails acceptance?
A: Record the non-conforming items and the deadline for rectification in the sign-off section. Minor defects (e.g., touch-up painting) can be corrected on-site and re-inspected immediately. Major defects (e.g., excessive main girder deflection) require stopping work to analyze the root cause, then re-inspecting all relevant items after rectification.
